Thursday 8th March 2019

For International Women's Day 2019 and as part of my final work for a B.A. Art Degree I co-ordinated a Bike Ride in and around Hereford commemorating the Canary Girls (munitions workers) of Rotherwas, Hereford.
I encouraged people from all walks of life to get on their bikes and become a moving piece of art.
The route followed a similar route to one taken daily on bicycles by thousands of women and some men during WW1 and WW11.
My aim was to bring the workers alive in our imaginations and share their stories, hear their voices and mark the unique roles that they played in our herstory.
It was a resounding success.
